DINING, GREAT ROOM & FOYER PHOTO TOUR - PROJECT MODERN OAK

Project Modern Oak is such a beautiful home - it looks like something straight out of Sunset Magazine. Besides the stunning architecture, the Northern California views seen from nearly every window in the house are spectacular.

The building designer and the contractor and his crew did a fantastic job. And let us not forget that behind every beautiful design project are visionary clients who are making it all possible.

To see the kitchen go here.

DINING ROOM

For the finish materials and furniture selections, it was all about texture. The clients wanted the home to feel warm and inviting. So with that in mind, in the dining room we included:

  • Forged metal in the lighting and furniture details

  • Leather upholstery at the dining room table for the texture, durability and cleanability

  • A sisal rug to anchor the table, define the dining space, and to add another natural texture

  • A hand-carved wooden boat, with fresh-cut greenery

  • Cut-glass showcased in the chandelier

GREAT ROOM

Continuing with both visual and tactile textures, the grand feature in the great room is the fireplace. It takes center stage; it’s flanked by picture windows that provide western views all the way to the coastal range.

  • The fireplace is clad with oversized tiles that have a hand-made quality, adding incredible dimension and interest to the space.

CREATING A WARM & INVITING SPACE

THE TAKE AWAY

  • The surefire way to add warmth to a space is to include natural materials and fibers like we did with Project Modernest Oak - wood, metal, sisal, linen, and vintage textiles all for the win!

  • It’s best to keep accessories and furniture pieces simple when it comes to stylizing modern homes. Especially when working with one that’s architecture is as beautiful as this one!

  • Don’t forget to include fresh-potted plants in your interiors. I can’t think of anything more inviting!

  • Can’t find the perfect sized vintage rug for your space? How about layering one on top of the other like we did here. Notice though, how we used a solid rug for the base and a patterned one for the top. Like what you see? The rugs are from Olio Collective.

Cheers!
